The online backup service supports a local disk based backup system to perform disk to disk backup and recovery at LAN speed. The local system runs the online backup client, storing up to twelve copies of the most recent backup data, and is always the first point of restore if a recovery is required. During the initial statistical analysis undertaken by OnDemand Recovery the local backup system is sized dependent on the stored data values, daily incremental changes and other features that are enabled such as Continuous Data Protection (CDP) and Message Level Restore (MLR). Multiple local systems can be setup in a grid configuration for resilience and performance as appropriate.
