Management reporting and availability

As part of the initial configuration OnDemand Recovery we would setup the client system(s), the appropriate daily backup alerting routines and ensure that a comprehensive understanding of the configuration, backup retention rules and rules management is passed to the customers IT staff. OnDemand Backup generates one of three alerts every time a backup runs: “completed successfully”, “completed with errors” and “failed”, each alert can be sent to a different email account to trigger IT support actions where appropriate. Reports can be extracted that show the amount of data that is being stored, the backup sets configured and the de-duplication and compression reductions being achieved.

The customers backup data is always available as there are four copies of the data being held in different locations,

  • In the operational application systems
  • In the local disk based backup system onsite
  • In the primary backup vault in the data centre
  • In the replicated backup vault.

The secure data vaults maintain the backup data through regular autonomic healing processes that run to ensure the integrity of the data is always held in a recoverable state. Asigra strikes the right balance between the number of copies of the data stored and the number of instances at any one location while optimising storage and bandwidth resources without compromising availability and access for recovery purposes.
